Minions of Gozer Live Shadowcast of “Ghostbusters”

“He slimed me.” That was a bit of an understatement this past weekend as shadowcastersMinions of Gozer paid tribute to one the 80s most iconic films, Ghostbusters. These talented individuals performed the legendary film live as it was being screened simultaneously substituting silly string for proton streams not to mention over-the-top action and silly props. The awesome event took place on both Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th at the IFC Center in Manhattan and it was definitely a Ghosthead’s (Ghostbusters fan) dream come true.

Taking a page from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Repo! The Genetic OperaMinions of Gozer took all the magic of an 80s kid’s memories and presented them in an amusing, interactive and imaginative way. For many, Ghostbusters, its sequel and the animated series were the coolest things ever. They represented all that was innocent, wholesome and downright fun for a kid. The Minions of Gozer are actors and crew members who understand this mentality and the show they put on this past weekend is strong evidence of that fact.

If you aren’t familiar with the film, Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as paranormal eliminators. Murray’s character gets involved with a woman played by Sigourney Weaver who gets possessed by an evil creature. It is then up to the four heroes to save Weaver, her hapless neighbor played by Rick Moranis and the world.

With prizes, giveaways and audience interaction, the Minions of Gozer put on one hell of a show. The shadowcasts were at midnight and fans of the 1984 sci-fi comedy were in for a treat of giant Twinkie-like proportions. Hopefully, the Minions of Gozer will delight audiences again soon because they have taken a cult classic and given it the brilliant shadowcast treatment. If you are a true Ghosthead or even just a casual fan of the film, then this midnight shadowcast is the perfect show for you. Who ya gonna call? MINIONS OF GOZER!
