Well, they’re back! The Minions of Gozer are returning this weekend for what should be, a paranormally awesome performance at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill tonight, September 1st. The Minions are a group of performers who go around to different venues shadowcasting the classic 80s sci-fi comedy Ghostbusters. Now, if you don’t know what a shadowcast is, it’s a live performance given by actors who perform a movie simultaneously as it plays on the screen. Notable shadowcasts have been done for The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Repo! The Genetic Opera.
Released in 1984, Ghostbusters is a film that is very much engrained in pop culture. From merchandise, to a cartoons, to a sequel, the film is a true phenomenon. It features a colorful cast which includes Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis. In the film Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis take it upon themselves to open up paranormal investigation and elimination service. Then, all hell breaks loose when Weaver and Moranis get possessed and it is up to the boys in beige to take care of the otherworldly problem.
The Minions of Gozer always manage to pull off a great show. They keep things fun and zany by shooting silly string into the audience. The silly string is supposed to be proton streams. There are prizes and audience participation. It is an absolutely brilliant mix of film and live performance and the results are really quite awesome. So, if you’re in the Times Square area this Saturday, the Minions of Gozer are ready to entertain you!
