Disney films have a long standing place in both American and international culture. For decades, audiences consisting of both children and adults have been entertained and taken on many delightful adventures. Walt Disney was responsible for many of these trips to fantasyland. The Aristocats is one such trip and it was actually the last film Mr. Disney approved of before his death/cryogenic hibernation in 1966. Released in 1970, the film is a charming tale that is now out in dazzling high definition Blu-ray.
The film follows a family of cats who reside with a wealthy woman in Paris, France circa 1910. The woman writes up a living will which details that in the event that something happens to her, her cats will inherit her fortune.
Problems arise however when the woman’s sneaky butler plots to swindle her out of the money. The cats are then catnapped and left out in the country by the butler. The rest of the film focuses on the cats making their way back home with the help of street smart tomcat.
The Aristocats is as Disney as it gets. There is stunning animation, strong voice acting and a toe-tapping soundtrack. If you are a collector of Disney classics or just a casual fan of quality animated films, then it is highly recommended that you pick up this superb Blu-ray/DVD combo set.
