In Disney’s never-ending quest to entertain and delight young audiences as well as adults, they usually succeed in their mission. From feature films, television shows to theme parks, they sure know how to bring smiles to people’s faces. Phineas and Ferb is a program which has a welcome spot in the Disney Channel’s lineup. It is a charming program which may annoy at first but after a while will secure a place in ones’ heart. Phineas and Ferb chronicles the day-to-day adventures of the two young title characters as they engage in larger than life shenanigans which usually frustrate their sister Candace who every episode, tries to get them in trouble by telling their mother. Unfortunately, by the end of every episode, Phineas and Ferb’s projects are scrapped or erased so their mother can never find out about them. Also, there is a B-plot involving their pet platypus Perry who actually moonlights as a secret agent. Every episode, he tries to stop an evil scientist named Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz who commits various acts of villainy.
The animation in Phineas and Ferb is mediocre but the stories and musical numbers are pretty enjoyable. Each episode contains humor, adventure and decent songs. Not all adults will appreciate its cuteness but children will certainly eat it up. There is a lot of junk out there on children’s TV but Phineas and Ferb rises above most of it. This DVD set is worth it, if not for you then definitely for your kids.
DVD Bonus Features
The bonus features for Phineas and Ferb: The Perry Files – Animal Agents are pretty great. There is Take Two with Phineas Ferb, a “talk show” featuring interviews with a bunch of notable celebrities. The DVD set also comes with a cool spy kit complete with binoculars.
