They conquered Hollywood for eight glorious seasons. The boys from Queens made money, courted numerous beautiful women and left an indelible impression on American pop culture. Entourage is a show that not only defines a generation, but it gives hope for people worldwide that they too can achieve success. Everyone dreams of wealth and/or fame. It’s something all people wish for and some actually do achieve. The cast of HBO’s immensely popular show proves through their characters that if you are ambitious or lucky enough or both, you too can make your dreams a reality.

The basic premise of Entourage is about a young up-and-coming movie star from Queens, NY named Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and the adventures he and his best friends get into in Los Angeles, CA. The show debuted in 2004 and since then, it has become an HBO juggernaut. Joining Vince on his adventures are a truly colorful bunch of characters who have stuck by the rising star since childhood. There is Eric “E” Murphy (Kevin Connolly), Vince’s manager. There’s Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon), Vince’s older brother and struggling actor. There’s Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), a habitual pot smoker and overall nice guy. Rounding out the group is Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), Vince’s agent who has an enormous amount of energy and a bit of an ego who strives to rule Hollywood.

Aside from the assorted collection of main characters, there is a plethora of gorgeous women and real life celebrities. In season 8, Andrew Dice Clay pops up, Bobby Flay, Amar’e Stoudemire, Michael Strahan and Mark Texeira, just to name a few.

This is the final season of Entourage, so things get a little epic. Relationships that have grown over the years are now tested. Characters who have had little to nothing in the first few seasons are now in control of their lives and they, like the show it self, are evolving. Vince meets a woman with whom he has a genuine connection. E’s romantic relationship gets a bit rocky. Turtle is trying to establish himself as a dependable businessman. Drama has some issues with his new TV show and last but not least, Ari has marital woes when he and his wife of 20 years separate.

The drama comes from all directions in this tight and final season. How each of the characters handle said drama is what has made this show so enjoyable since its pilot back in 2004. Entourage is basically the male version of Sex and the City. The most important element of both shows are the relationships. Entourage not only features beautiful people but real flesh and blood characters. It’s almost like a reality show but scripted and more exciting.

It’s truly bittersweet that the final chapter of Entourage is upon us. The Blu-ray of season 8 is here and one can only hope for a feature-length film in near future. Perhaps executive producer and original inspiration for Vincent Chase, Mark Wahlberg can make sure an Entourage movie gets made. The boys from Queens have come so far. The acting and writing are both top notch. Ari Gold is too awesome a character to be simply say farewell too. Television is rarely as good as Entourage. The characters are likable and audiences actually feel for these guys. It’s almost like you’re right there with them, enjoying the celebrity lifestyle. For eight years, viewers have gone on the same adventures with these guys and now with DVD and Blu-ray, you can relive those awesome experiences again and again.

Blu-ray Bonus Features

The bonus features for Entourage: The Complete Eighth Season are a tad unimpressive considering this is the final season. The only bonus feature is Hollywood Sunset: A Farewell to Entourage and it is a look back at the show with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and candid interviews with the cast, crew and special guests.
